Many Australians are migrants, or are descended from people who came to Australia as migrants. This Is My Culture is a series that looks at the cultures of these people from a young person's point of view. Each young person describes his or her family background; some difficulties he or she or his or her parents and grandparents faced on arrival in Australia; and his or her cultural traditions, including the arts, festivals and food.
Talofa! That's 'hello' in Samoan. My name is Semo. I live in Sydney, but my family comes from Samoa, which is a group of islands about 3000 kilometres east of Australia in the Pacific Ocean.
