Product Description

Colonel Muammar al Qaddafi, the leader of Libya, called it his "Line of Death". If investigators are correct, President Ronald Reagan's decision to cross that line started a chain of escalating events that would lead, thirty-three months later, to one of the worst aviation disasters in history. On April 2, 1986, a bomb planted on board TWA Flight 840 exploded, killing four Americans. Blame was never assigned, but authorities suspected Qaddafi's handiwork. Three days later, bomb exploded in a Berlin disco. Of the 200 people injured, roughly one-third were American military service personnel. One American serviceman and a civilian were killed. Communications intercepted by German and U.S. intelligence agencies showed that Colonel Qaddafi had ordered the attack. Colonel Muammar al Qaddafi would get his revenge by planting a bomb on Pan Am Flight 103. Two hundred fifty-nine innocent men, women, and children on board and eleven others would lose their lives when flaming remnants of the massive Boeing 747 rained down upon the small Scottish town of Lockerbie.
