Product Description

The ancient Olympic Games were held for almost 1000 years. Between 776BC and 393AD, they were staged in Olympia, Greece, every four years, before being stopped by Emperor Theodosius. In the 1890s, Baron Pierre de Coubertin, a Frenchman, thought it would be a good idea to revive the Games. A meeting of the International Athletic Congress in Paris in 1894 supported the Baron, and two years later, the first modern Olympic Games were held in Athens.
