Product Description

Of all the world's books, the best stories are to be found between the pages of a passport. Scraps of Wool is a celebration of the Golden Age of travel writing, bringing together in one volume inspirational and classic passages that have enthralled and excited generations of readers. Compiled by editor Bill Colegrave, its excerpts have been carefully selected by today's greatest living travel writers, those whose adventures have fulfilled them and their readers alike. Contributors include Dervla Murphy, Anthony Sattin, Tony Wheeler, Rory MacLean, Pico Iyer, Sara Wheeler, Nick Danziger, Colin Thubron, Artemis Cooper, John Keay and many, many more on journeys - on foot, or by bike; through thick equatorial jungle, or across vast Siberian plains and the icy wastelands of the far north - to every corner of the globe. Scraps of Wool is not a travel reference book, but a book to be read from cover to cover- each piece, each story, each memory will take you on a journey through the finest of travel literature, and inspire you to plan your own great adventure.Of all the world's books, the best stories are to be found between the pages of a passport.
