Flossie's dad, Archie, could never have imagined that his daughter would wave him off to fight in WWII, as he had waved his own father off to fight in WWI. Unfortunately, this was exactly what happened; soon, rationing, gas masks, bombs, chilblains, gum-chewing Yanks and the threat of an enemy invasion became part of Flossie's daily life. Some days she coped brilliantly, on others it wasn't just the bombs that exploded!
