Set in a mental institution in 1970, Cosi is the second semi-autobiographical play from Louis Nowra in recent years. In Summer of the Aliens, Lewis and Dulcie come of age at the time of the Cuban Missile Crisis and in Cosi the education of Lewis makes further progress. Lewis the non-participant becomes emotionally involved with his actors' lives as his operatic production lurches forward and the anti-Vietnam protests take place in the streets outside.
