Pro feminist, oracle and theorist, Alfred Adler is a lesser known yet important contributor to the science of human behaviour. A contemporary of Jung and Freud, Adler believed that people are motivated not by sex (as Freud maintained) but by a need to find their place within the family and to feel valued. This departure from Freud did not make Adler a hit in the US or Britian but he enjoyed tremendous popularity in Europe. That popularity was interrupted by the Nazi regime and later World War II.
