Texting can definitely be more convenient than making a phone call. If you have a small piece of information to communicate - such as the time and place of a meeting - a text can be a good way to pass that information along. Sometimes you may not have time for a full conversation, or you may be in an area that does not have good cell phone reception. Other times, you may be in a situation where an actual phone conversation would be disruptive. When the purpose of communication is to pass along simple information, texting can be a great tool. However, if the nature of the communication is more complicated or deals with matters of emotion, texting is generally a bad idea.
