Product Description

Scientists define a desert as an area that receives less than 25 centimetres of precipitation a year. Scientists also take into account the rate of evaporation, which has an impact on the available water. They divide dry environments into three types, depending on how arid, or dry, the land is. Very arid areas (true deserts) receive less than 10 centimetres of rainfall a year; arid areas get 10-25 centimetres. Semi-arid lands received 25-50 centimetres of rainfall a year.
