The huge snow tractor rumbled slowly across the frozen surface of Antarctica. Travelling inland from McMurdo Station (A United States Antarctic research center), it headed toward the center of this icy land. The tractor was dragging a large shed filled with sixteen tons of explosives. Supplies and equipment are usually flown into and out of McMurdo Station on transport planes. This cargo, however, was much too large and far too dangerous to deliver by plane.
