Jared enters an inventing competition and is overjoyed when he learns he has won a week's holiday in a country of his choice for himself and four of his friends. Since his Uncle Wazza lives in New Zealand, it does not take Jared long to decide where he wants to go. Who to take with him is also obvious. Solving that dilemma is nothing compared to the problem awaiting the Dudes when they arrive in the land of the Long White Cloud. They are horrified to find Uncle Wazza lives across the road from a forest that is on the verge of being chopped down to make way for a shopping centre and car park. Losing a forest is bad enough news but there is worse to come. In the forest Uncle Wazza's young next-door neighbours have discovered a clutch of eggs belonging to the endangered Tuatara.
In a desperate race against time, the Dudes must somehow save the forest and the precious Tuatara eggs.
